Sarah Lewis (Collins) is an award winning magician and entertainer,
whose career spans over 20 years.
In this time, Sarah has performed as a magician, illusionist,
children's entertainer, entertainments manager and most recently,
moved into the field of educational magic.
Sarah first started out as a children's entertainer and where her dream of working as a magician and working with children began. The highlight for her at that time was performing a children's magic show for Lancashire Constabulary HQ Children's Xmas party, where there was approx. 300 children aged 0 - 12 years, and Sarah did this for 4 years, all this before she turned 16 years old.
Sarah's professional career started at the age of 18,
as a Butlin's Redcoat at Starcoast World, Pwllheli, North Wales.
Sarah thoroughly enjoyed this summer season and regards it as
one of her favourites,as it taught her about working in the
entertainment industry and learnt so much.
Sarah also worked alongside many top celebrities whilst
as a Redcoat, such as Bernie Clifton, Grotbags, Noel Edmonds,
Gene Pitney, Dave Benson Phillips and many others.
Sarah then spent a further 6 years working on holiday parks, with different companies, including Bourne Leisure and Hoburne Holidays. Within those 6 years, Sarah was DJ, Compere, Childrens Entertainer, Kids Club Leader, Skin Character, Assistant Entertainment Manager, Show performer and then in 1999, became an Entertainments Manager in the Cotswolds.
Christmas 1999 was another career highlight as Sarah was in pantomime in her home town of Preston, Lancashire. Sarah was Baby Bear in Goldilockas and the 3 amazing bears production at the Charter Theatre, Preston. Sarah starred alongside Bobby Knutt (Emmerdale), Sally Naden (BBC Radio Lancashire), Steve Royle (BBC Radio Lancashire/ Comedian/ Juggler), Patton Brothers (brothers of the Chuckle Brothers), Larry Osca (circus performer) and David Lonsdale (David from Heartbeat).
Summer 2000, saw Sarah take a different path and fulfilled her
dream to become an illusionist.
The act was called Kryptic and Sarah has a male assistant who
went into all the boxes and that summer she was performing her
nightly cabaret act onboard MV Betagne, sailing from Portsmouth
to Saint Malo, France. A superb experience and where Sarah met
her future husband, who then became her assistant.
As Kryptic, Sarah and husband David, performed all over the UK, including holiday parks, corporate events, private clients, as well as been asked to perform at the British Magical Championships. Kryptic also performed at several top theatres including, Library theatre in Sheffield, Opera House in Blackpool, and two West End theatres in London; Drury Lane and the London Palladium with Jimmy Cricket.
Then in 2004, Sarah went back to her roots and started performing
again as a children's entertainer Scruff Kidz, as well as performing
in Kryptic. This started out when friends were looking for childrens
entertainers that were a bit different and at that time there was only
a few female childrens entertainers. The response was huge and
Sarah still performs her childrens shows at birthday parties, xmas parties,
christenings and for private clients, including Busy Bees, Leapfrogs,
Royal British Legion, Blackpool Fostering Service and Bowker BMW.
One of Sarah's skills that seperates her from other performers is that Sarah can remember all the childrens names at a party! A skill that she leanrt as a child and the the parenst love it, as it gives all the children respect and shows that Sarah cares about them individually, rather than just a bunch of kids at a party wearing stickers with their names on!
Sarah also uses her stage magic from Kryptic to show the children that there is more magic out there for them to see. All to often childrens entertainers use the same 'kiddie type' of magic and as children are playing more computer games and being more aware of what is going on around them, that style of magic does not always work well. Even the adults take part and enjoy the magic.
Then November 2005, Sarah embarked on her new adventure
into the world of educational magic. This is where
The Anti-Bullying Magician was born, presenting
'The BAND together for a Bully-Free School Show'.
Since then, Sarah has gone from strength to strength and
the show has been seen by thousands of children across the
UK and hopefully giving them the confidence to ask for help with
any bullying issues they may have. As someone who was bullied
themselves, Sarah knows first hand the affects it can have on you
and they can stay with you forever.
By bringing together the importance of bullying and magic as a learning aid, Sarah performs an amazing show that stays with the children for a long while.
